I was born and raised here in Wilmington, NC. Like most of us, I grew-up playing basketball, soccer, and swimming. In 1984, I graduated from John T Hoggard High School as a Ronald Reagan scholar. In 1984, I enrolled in UNC-Chapel Hill and majored in Psychology.
After Chapel Hill, I worked for 6 years in my family’s jewelry business, Kingoff’s Jewelers. I got my gemology degree and managed a retail store. I was fortunate to have had the experience of working with the public and learning how to run a business.
In 1997, I moved to Santa Fe, NM and attended the Southwest Acupuncture College. It was a fine school, but the altitude, 7200 ft, and the arid climate were unpleasant. In 1998, I moved to Orlando, Florida and transferred to the National College of Oriental Medicine. In June of 2000, I graduated, passed the national board certification, and moved back to Wilmington. In August, I was granted a North Carolina Acupuncture license and have been practicing since.
College & Post Graduate Education:
1984 – 1988 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, BA Psychology
1995 – 1996 University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Computer Science
1997 – 1998 Southwest Acupuncture College, Santa Fe, NM
1998 – 2000 National College of Oriental Medicine, Orlando FL, MS Oriental Medicine
Continuing Education:
In North Carolina, acupuncturists are required to take 40 hours of continuing education every two years. I’m proud to say that I have taken over double the requirement. More importantly, I have consistently focused on training within these areas: Digestive Disorders, Insomnia, Pain Relief, and Drug-Herb interactions.
Professional Practice:
I have been in practice fulltime since August 2nd, 2000. My focus is on treating the whole person, not just a label that describes their condition. It is my goal to get you back to your life, not back to my office.
I specialize in treating pain, whether from arthritis, trauma, headaches or digestive disorders. I have also helped hundreds quit smoking and have helped even more to sleep better.
